AAAA is a domain name record, that is in essence the IPv6 address of the server in which the domain name is hosted. The IPv6 system was designed to replace the present IPv4 system in which every single IP address is made up of 4 groups of decimal numbers between 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. In comparison, an IPv6 address has 8 groups of four hexadecimal digits - ranging from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The reason behind this modification is the substantially smaller number of unique IPs the existing system supports and the speedy increase of gadgets that are connected to the world wide web. A good example of an IPv6 address is 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you wish to forward a domain name to a server that uses such an address, you will have to set up an AAAA record for it, not the commonly used A record, which is an IPv4 address. The 2 records deliver the same exact function, but different notations are used, in order to differentiate the two forms of addresses.

AAAA Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you need to set up a new AAAA record for any domain name or subdomain hosted within your cloud web hosting account, it won't take you more than a few easy steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is very intuitive to use and it'll permit you to set up or change any record easily. After you sign in and navigate to the DNS Records section, in which you'll discover all present records for your domain names and subdomains, you'll just have to click on the "New" button, select AAAA from a small drop-down options menu within the pop-up that'll show up, input or paste the required IPv6 address and save the modification - it's as basic as that. The new record will be fully live within a maximum of an hour and the hostname that you have created it for is going to start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. If needed, you'll also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds the new record will be active after you eventually change it to something different or you simply delete it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Setting up a new AAAA record is extremely easy with our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain address in a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you require such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you've set up under it, you'll be able to create it in a few very simple steps and with no hassle. Hepsia has a section devoted to the DNS records of your domains where you can find all existing records or create new ones with a few clicks. All it takes to achieve that is to select the domain/subdomain you want to edit, pick AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and type the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address which the other provider has given you. Within an hour after you save the change, the new record is going to propagate globally and your Internet domain will start forwarding to the third-party server. If they demand it, you could also change the TTL value, which outlines the time this record will be functioning with its present value before a new one takes over if you make any changes in the future.
